Welcome February! Hopefully you have all put the post-Christmas blues of January behind you, and your minds are starting to think about the brightness of Spring to come.. reno projects and redecorating perhaps? At IDH, we see the light at the end of the winter tunnel (even if it is a couple months off) and want to bring some life and colour into our homes when cold and snow lurk on the other side of our doors.
I am sure you have all heard and seen plenty about Pantone's 2014 Colour of the Year - Radiant Orchid, and you either love it or hate it. Another jewel tone like last years' Emerald, Radiant Orchid is bold and not for the faint of heart. Though it is just one colour, many colours in the fuchsia/magenta/violet spectrum would probably be suitable. So, if pink is your thing - awesome… we won't have to convince you of its merits. But if you typically shy away from these colours, I encourage you to consider using them for a punch of colour in a neutral room - like Emerald, somewhere that isn't a big investment or permanent. What I am saying is, maybe pass on the fuchsia velvet couch and opt for florals, accessories or an area carpet in the daring hue.
Check out our 'Simply Radiant!' board on Pinterest, and please - pin some of your favourite images inspired by this years' IT colour to our board so we can see how you're planning to use it.
Come in and visit one of our showrooms, so we can discuss whether you see Radiant Orchid as a hit or a miss, and how we can work it into your design if you so desire. I hope you are all staying warm during this deep freeze. We were relishing the sunshine today - sub zero temperatures in the single digits is something to celebrate these days!
